  Surat also known as Suryapur, is the commercial capital city of the Indian state of Gujarat. Surat is India's Eighth most populous city and Ninth-most populous urban agglomeration. It is also administrative capital of Surat district and one of the fastest growing cities in India. The city proper is the third cleanest city in India.  
     
  Summer : In Surat the summers can get extremely hot and temperature can go up to thirty six to thirt seven degrees Centigrade. The days are hotter and quite uncomfortable.  
     
  Monsoon : Monsoon begins in late June and the city receives about 1,000 millimetres (39 in) of rain by the end of September.Very often heavy monsoon rain brings floods in the Tapi basin area.  
     
  Winter : Winter starts in December and ends in late February, with average temperatures of around 24 C, and little rain.
