  Madurai is a fascinating town located in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu and occupies an important place on the itinerary of a tourist on a pilgrimage tour. Madurai is home to a large number of splendid temples that belong to the ancient and medieval era, and are recognized for their architectural grandeur.It is the administrative headquarters of Madurai District and is famous for its temples built by Pandyan and Madurai Nayak kings in the Dravidian style of architecture. It is also one of India's prominent Hindu pilgrimage centres.
