  Kozhikode (Calicut), the most important region of Malabar in yesteryears, was the capital of the powerful Zamorins and also a prominent trade and commerce center.Kozhikode is the headquarters of the Kozhikode district on the Malabar Coast. Kozhikode is the third largest city in Kerala after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.  
     
  Summer : Summers are hot and humid with the maximum temperature of 34C and minimum temperature of 23C.  
     
  Monsoon : The most important rainy season is during the South West Monsoon which sets in the first week of June and extends up to September. The North-East Monsoon extends form the second half of October through November. The average annual rainfall in 3266 m.m.  
     
  Winter : Winter is mild and lasts from about mid-October to early February. Heavy rains occur from the last week of September until until early November, due to the retreat of the South-East monsoon.  
     
  Clothing : Wear only light loose cotton clothes during summer season.Always carry an umbrella no matter what time of the year because there are sudden shower in summer.Light woollen for winter nights are advisable.
