Gangtok is a bustling, friendly hill station, and the capital of the Himalayan state of Sikkim. The city is situated at an altitude of about 1780 m above the sea level and enjoys a mild temperate climate throughout the year. Integration of different cultures in the region makes this place a heaven on earth. The unspoilt natural beauty of Gangtok and its peaceful Chortens/Stupas offer a truly unique traveling experience in India.

Summer : Summers (lasting from late April to June) are mild, with maximum temperatures rarely crossing 22 C .

Monsoon : The monsoon season from June to September is characterised by intense torrential rains often causing landslides that block Gangtok's land access to the rest of the country.

  Winter : In winter temperature averages between 4 C and 21 C .

Clothing : During winters one should pack enough warm clothes to face the spell of chilly winds. In the summers, light cotton clothing will do, but keep a little of warm clothes to meet the uncertain frosty breeze.
