Chennai is situated on the south east coast of India and lies in the tropical zone of climate. As a result, it mostly experiences hot and humid weather. However, it receives ample rainfall and therefore has a pleasant climate throughout the year. The best time to visit Madras city is from November to February i.e. during the winter months. During this time, the weather is very enjoyable for the tourists as well as the residents. It even receives rain during the winters, which is very pleasurable for a trip.

Summer : The temperature in summer may rise to a maximum of 37 C. Temperatures generally remain between 25 C to 37 C .

Monsoon : Chennai receives very little rainfall during the monsoons. However, higher levels of humidity and water scarcity make the monsoons a poor choice for a trip.

Winter : During winter the temperature is around 20°c to 32c in the day time and drops to around 22°c in the night.

Clothing : Due to its proximity to the sea, the climate of the city remains hot and humid. As summers of the city are warm so cotton clothing are ideal, winters are not much cold, light woollen clothes are enough.
