Bhubaneswar also Bhuvaneshwara) is the capital of the Indian state of Orissa. It is also a Buddhists and Hindu pilgrimage destination. Bhubaneswar's proud possession of magnificent sculptures and architectural heritage, coupled with the sanctity as Ekamrakshetra make this one of the great religious centres of Orissa since early medieval days.[2] With its large number of Hindu temples (over 600 in number), which span the entire spectrum of Kalinga architecture, Bhubaneswar is often referred to as a "Temple City" of India.

Summer : The summer months from April to May are hot and humid, and temperatures often shoot past 38 C in May.

Monsoon : The south west monsoon lashes Orissa in June, bringing relief to the parched environs of Bhubaneswar. July and August receive the maximum rainfall, which may average over 220 mm a month.

Winter : The winter season lasts for a really long time, starting in Nonember and extending till March. The weather during these five months is quite chilly, though not freezing, and the minimum temperature dips to as low as 15 Celsius.

Clothing : In the Bhubaneshwar in summer season light weight cottons clothes are essential . Waterproofing clothes is required through the monsoon. In winter warmer clothes are necessary.
