Akola an important city from the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra is famous as Cotton City or cotton capital of the Country. Akola is budding industrial hub. There are many units engaged with production of Basen (gram flour). Other industries are oil & textiles. Akola district is the highest cotton crop yielding district in the country. City is also famous for the advanced medical facilities available for example Elizarov technique, IVF, etc. Famous pilgrimage city Shegaon is less than 50 km from Akola. |

Summer : The heat in the summer season is intense during the day and the nights are comparatively tolerable. During the period from April to June, on individual days, the day temperature rises upto about 44°C. |

Monsoon :
With the arrival of the south-west monsoon in the district by aboyut mid-June there is an appreciable drop in the day temperature and the weather becomes pleasant. |
